thanks tom for setting up this space.
I set September 1st as a starting point for re-focusing on the library and its future development. I hope this is a meeting that we can have over the next few weeks although some things would be good to solve in the next few days.
Main things to think about are:
1. how to catalog the actual material we have stored at Queen Mary
2. how to make stronger links between those materials and the website
3. how to design 'the library' for touring purposes
4. how to promote and encourage more contributions
5. fundraising for maintenance and future development
Because I am based in NY until January-it would be easier for me to focus on points 2,3 and 4. However I would be happy to entertain discussion and suggestions on all 5 points.
Below are some immediate questions that have come through LADA that we need to address:
quoting Andrew from LADA
I've had a couple of requests from various people about posting information
and submitting materials (either hard
copies or electronic versions) to the library website. However it seems
that the website does not clearly show users how to do this, and I¹ve looked
myself without much success.
Can there be some adaptations to the site to indicate how users might submit
further items to the library.
We'd also like to put that information on a page of our own site and create
links to the library site for our users  can we get some copy about the
library and how to post? Can we also get a link put in the library site to
us here at the Agency?
I am happy to create some copy for this but would love some input and some reminders from tom and gini about the best procedure for this.
Hello everybody,
I've added functionality so documents (word, rtf, or whatever...) can be uploaded to the text entries. The process is:
1. Go to the 'Text' section (Link can be found in the top right menu area).
2. Click 'Write new entry'.
3. Under the heading 'File attachments' click 'Choose file'.
4. Find the file you wish to upload.
6. Click submit to create the new page with the added attachment, which will automatically be displayed at the bottom.
Tom
P.S. I'll find somewhere sensible to place the instructions...

Instructions for uploading documents
I was thinking it would be good to setup a separate topic in this section for some of Lois' points, as each item is quite substantial in itself:
1. how to catalog the actual material we have stored at Queen Mary
2. how to make stronger links between those materials and the website
3. how to design 'the library' for touring purposes
4. how to promote and encourage more contributions
5. fundraising for maintenance and future development
+ add another:
6. Site usability (confusing terminology, layout, RSS feed for all content etc.)
Can people thin k of any other items to address?

I think it'd be really helpful to set up separate topic sections for this.
In addition, it would be useful to include a section on looking at other community driven sites assessing the use of social software packages as integral components of conferences, events and networks and comparing Performing-Rights Library with the use of social software in eg the NODE.London and Wireless London initiatives.

Yes please - would be useful info.
Social Tagging
The STEVE museum
is a project looking at social tagging of art museum collections in order to give people greater access to collections.
It may be useful to keep an eye on it to see if we can learn anything pertinent to the library.
www.steve.museum does look interesting...
www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk has just had a beta launch & part of what they plan for the future is submission & comment from the general public.
and also . . . . (and a shameless plug) SPACE is currently working on an RFID programme, which includes a series of 5 artists commissions which will open on Friday 6th Oct @ SPACE (please come along if you can)and will include this piece ....
. . . In SWAPOId, **evoLhypergrapHyCx (C6)** implement RFID technology in the Antisystemic Distributed Library Project, an alternative library of shared books, videos, and music with venues in community centres and bedrooms worldwide, and through this acting as but one site of resistance against a de-humanising, de-dimensional agenda. . . . .
