Mothertongue is a collective of women performing artists, who explore keys to the empowerment of women and practical processes of healing and transformation through the power of the arts.
Founded in 2000 by Sara Matchett and Rehane Abrahams, Mothertongue believes in empowering participants to discover and recover their own resources for self-healing.
The collective employs a participatory and integrated arts approach that combines the principles of storytelling, physical theatre, visual arts, creative writing, ritual and sound.
We have recently opened an office in Indonesia and hope to increase collaboration along the Indian Ocean Basin in the Global South.
